A Welshman based in Paris, having spent 6 years in Brooklyn, Mikey specializes in multi-media journalism & filmmaking, across social impact stories as well as conflict and risk-on zones. Mikey worked across terrorism, national security & aviation for 20 years, as an assault helicopter pilot in support of U.K Special Forces, and as a strategic military planner in the British Military. He deployed on ten tours of duty including Baghdad, Basra, Kabul, Kandahar, Pristina, Skopje and Belfast. And operated frequently inside the harsh arctic circle and desert environments.


In his second career as a correspondent and filmmaker, along with national security and aviation Mikey has also covered in depth, conservation, medical, mental health, political, religious, and renewable energy-based stories broadcast on the BBC, CNN, ABC News, MSNBC, National Geographic, History Channel, Travel Channel, and Vogue. Mikey is an accomplished correspondent, host, camera operator, writer and editor. And can operate as a correspondent or with a camera, at high altitudes on mountainous terrain, or sub-surface being a qualified SCUBA diver. In the last few years Mikey has filmed in Iraq, Siberia, South Africa, Peru, Nicaragua, Namibia, Vietnam, Columbia, Japan, Kenya, Ethiopia, China, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Lebanon, Kyrgyzstan, Europe, and the United States including Alaska.


Mikey’s latest film, My Autistic Big Brother & Me, was filmed, directed, written and edited by Mikey in the mountains of North Wales over a period of 4 years, and aired recently on the BBC.


Michael spent 20 years as an assault helicopter pilot and strategic planner in Her Majesty's Royal Air Force, serving operational flying tours in Kosovo, Macedonia, Bosnia and Iraq, as well as strategy and diplomacy tours in Afghanistan, Sumatra (post tsunami), India and Africa. He quickly rose to Senior Officer status and spent his final years before retirement as a military advisor within the UK's Ministry of Defense.
